GUINEA PIGS FARM PROJETC
The Chocco teenagers group started in this year 2008 the guinea pigs farm!!!
One of the principal reasons to work on this project is the recently reports that mention that during 2007 Peru exported to the United States almost US $ 52,000 of Guinea pigs mead. This is because there are many Peruvians living in the United States and they have generated this potential market.
We discussed this report with our Chocco teenagers group and we decided to go on in the project.
At the moment there is a local government raising guinea pigs program to support with technical trainings to groups of communities who decided to be part of this program. They do not provide money but if the group demonstrates continuity the leaders will be taken to the North and Center of Peru to see other experiences with Guinea pigs projects.
This is an extraordinary opportunity for our teenagers and to make this project self sustaining we need to work on:
-Complementary technical support.
-The new farm house for the Guinea pigs.
-Cultivating food for the Guinea pigs.
-Marketing to introduce our product in the market
-Looking for and managing donations for our project.
