Volunteering

Are you motivated to make a difference, 18 years of age or older and curious to explore the diverse and mysterious country of Peru? If so, why not get involved with one of the many volunteer projects at Hampy? We have opportunities that vary from specific, professionally oriented projects to general opportunities for any one who is interested in donating some time, working as part of a team and learning more about Peruvian culture.

One of the main goals at Hampy is to provide all volunteers with the most rewarding experience possible. After careful evaluation of several other volunteer organizations in the Cusco area and beyond we concluded that many volunteers often share feelings of frustration and discouragement by their various experiences. We believe that this is due in part to an overemphasis by many organizations on more lucrative activities such as language training and the offering of very generic projects, where the aims are not always clear. 

At Hampy, all volunteers are familiarized with local culture and traditions. In addition, volunteers participate in structured programs where individual skills and goals are relative to the projects. This serves to maximize each individual's potential and optimize their experience in the communities where they choose to work. We offer weekly opportunities for our volunteers to communicate with other project participants and Hampy administration in our focus forums. We also organise regular day trips for our volunteers so they can explore the awe-inspiring Sacred Valley or the South Valley of Cusco, Choquequirao, etc.

After completing the initial one to three week cultural immersion and language training process, the length and type of involvement that you wish to take with Hampy is up to you. Through fostering individualized opportunities and supportive methods of communication we believe that it is entirely possible to facilitate big changes in Peru and change the face of volunteering.
