Spanish Program + Inca Culture
The City of Cusco is famous as the Capital of the Ancient Inca Empire; today a modern city situated in the Peruvian Andes 3,350 meters above sea-level, there are many reminders of Cusco´s former inhabitants. There is a fascinating mixture of architectural styles as many colonial buildings were literally built on top of Inca temples and palaces. You can stroll through the city center down Inca Streets, with high walls featuring impressive Inca stonework stretching above you on both sides. Elements of Inca culture and traditions are still alive and you can observe age-old ritual still practiced today by the Andean people in their popular fiestas and celebrations.
