Training / Spanish Classes:
In order to volunteer with Hampy, you must attend our training program. This training program is very important for a number of reasons. Firstly, you will be given an introduction to the specific project. You will learn about its strengths and weaknesses and exactly how you can make a difference. These sessions will allow you to explore your own strengths as well and the ways in which your past experiences can contribute to your work with Hampy. Based on your skills and interests, we will structure your volunteer activities and plan exactly what it is you would like to do within the project. This is one of the main aspects that differentiate Hampy from other organizations. By the end of your training, you will have a clear idea of what your objectives are and how you can realistically meet your goals in the time that you have with our organization.
Additonally, you will receive information about the technical aspects to consider while working in our projects. We will discuss cultural aspects and general tips about living in Cusco. Hampy would like to ensure that you have a meaningful experience in Cusco. In order for that to happen, safety and comfort must be considered as well. Within these sessions you will be able to clear any doubts or fears you may have.
The training that Hampy provides is essential to the work you will be doing during your time here. By attending our training and possibly studying Spanish, you are contributing to our self sustainable project and helping us to make a difference in Cusco, Peru.
There is one week training program that includes a Spanish level evaluation, cultural shock management, technical training based on chosen Project, guided visits to potential worksites, development of work plan, monitoring of all activities and a final results evaluation. This will last for about 20 hours over the course of 5 days (Monday through Friday). The cost for this program is US $ 300.
It is important to realize that these are the only costs associated with our general volunteering program. You will not pay any other fees to volunteer with Hampy. Accommodation is a separate cost and will be determined based on the preferences of each volunteer. It is also really important to understand that local transportation, food or extra- materials are not included in the training payment (US $ 300).
